I was recently browsing the Web for a gift for one of my relatives who is a die hard gaming simulation fan.  He is really into simulations so I searched the market looking for the perfect gift and came across the Logitech G25 Racing Wheel.  To say the least, I was quite impressed with what I discovered when I opened the package and want to share what I found in this Logitech G25 review.  Here are some of the great features and details in the Logitech G25:

Logitech G25 Racing Wheel Features

When I took the racing wheel out of the box I was completely blown away by the sturdy construction and the high quality materials used to manufacture this beauty.  The steering wheel is wrapped in upscale leather with the other components made of a very substantial brushed stainless steel.  The impressive quality did not stop there:

  • Six Speed Gated Shifter: Due to the sturdy design of the unit the shifter feels very true to size and has a substantial dial that allows you to easily change from gated mode into sequential mode and includes buttons that configure the unit to a variety of game controls.  The new shifter is also made with more stability due to the implementation of new clamps that are dispersed throughout the bottom of the shifter.
  • Dual-Motor Force Feedback: The new motor in the Logitech G25 is super quiet thanks to the force feedback and provides a real life feeling of driving a race car and allows you to really get a feel for the road pavement.  This provides an unmatched inspirational experience that is quite close to driving on an authentic race track.
  • Sturdy Stainless Steel Pedals: The pedal system on the Logitech G25 is exclusive for more than just the clutch pedal.  Each pedal has its own level of resistance which increases the response and makes the racing experience more realistic.  In addition to sturdy stainless steel construction, the pedals have a spike system that helps keep the unit secured to the carpet for the ultimate driving experience.

  • Flexible System Requirements: The G25 racing wheel is compatible with any PC equipped with the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating system, Pentium processor, at least 256MB RAM, 20 MB of available hard disk space, a USB port, and CD-ROM drive.  It is also compatible with the PS2 and PS3 computer entertainment system including the GT5 Prologue in PlayStation 3.  It is not compatible with Xbox 360 although a few have figured out how to make it work with this type of configuration.

Logitech G25 Compatible Games

The Logitech G25 Racing Wheel is compatible with games for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 which fully supports all of the G25 features.  The nice part about working with PS3 is that you can also use the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue with the G25 model.

Driving games which are designed for a PC with the above system requirements support the six-speed shifter, 900 degree steering capability, and the G25 Racing Wheel force feedback.  The G25 works with a wide variety of driving games for PlayStation 2 which supports the force feedback of Logitech G25, Driving Force Pro, and Driving Force EX racing wheels.

The majority of the PlayStation 3 games support the six-speed shifter with games such as DiRT 2, Gran Turismo series, Midnight Club, and Need for Speed (Undercover and SHIFT) supporting the 900-degree steering and force feedback features of the G25.

PlayStation 3 driving games which support the force feedback feature of Logitech G25, Driving Force Pro, and Driving Force EX racing wheels include Burnout Paradise, DiRT, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, NASCAR, Ridge Racer 7, and a few others.

If you are looking for a driving game experience that is the next best thing to being at the race track, the Logitech G25 Racing Wheel is worth your time to take for a test spin.  My relative cannot use it enough for racing simulations and spends hours enjoying a real life driving experience.  When I shopped around online I found a great deal on the G25 here.
